Demecs, Trivett Lead Jackets at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Defiance College men's indoor track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, placing ninth out of 19 schools with 25.50 total points.  The Jackets finished ahead of conference rivals Bluffton University (23 points) and Mount St. Joseph (five points). Defiance, Ohio, native Austin Trivett led the way for the Jackets, garnering 15 of DC's 25.50 total points on the day. Trivett placed first at the meet in the pole vault, crushing the old school record by three inches with an NCAA provisional qualifying height of 15-03.00. Trivett continued his outstanding meet by placing fourth in the high jump with a height of 6-03.50.

The distance medley relay team of Aaron Demecs, Seth Bidlack, Aaron Bronson  and Hayden Krick would set another school record, finishing the relay in 10:44.95 to claim a sixth-place finish at the meet.

Demecs had the most impressive day of any DC runner, beating the old Defiance College record in the 400 meter dash by more than a second, as he crossed the line in 50.36 for a fourth-place finish.

The men's track and field team will return to action on Saturday, February 20, when it travels to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the Hoosier-Buckeye Meet. The meet is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
