Perry Breaks School Record, DC Places Second at Trine Meet

Angola, Ind. – The men's track and field team competed in their first event of the 2010 indoor season on Friday, January 22, finishing second in the Trine Meet with 59.50 points. The Jackets broke one school record and had several athletes record top ten performances in DC's all-time record book. [Results]

Ryan Perry broke his own school record and became the first athlete in school history to run the 60 meter dash in less than seven seconds, crossing the line in 6.99 to take first place. Aaron Demecs finished second in the event (7.31), placing himself fourth all-time at DC.

Perry set the pace in the 200 meter dash as well, finishing in 23.08 to place third all-time in school history. DC's Dan Hardin-Wallace came in second in the event with a time of 24.80.

Aaron Demecs finished the 400 meter dash in 51.93 to take first place, and anchored DC's 4x400 team that posted a top-ten performance, finishing in 3:38.94, to place second in the relay.

The Jackets took the top two spots in the 800 meter dash with Seth Bidlack finishing first (2:03.85), and freshman runner Aaron Bronson following closely behind with a time of 2:04.24.

 Austin Trivett placed first in the pole vault among unattached athletes, clearing 14-09.16 to place second all-time in DC's record book.

Justin Perkins set the pace in the one mile run, finishing in first with a time of 4:38.00, which ranks 4th in school history.

The men's track and field team will return to action on Saturday, January 30, when they travel to Marion, Ind., to compete in the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
