Bidlack Breaks 500-Meter Dash Record, Jackets Place Second
ANGOLA, Ind. – The men’s track and field team finished second at the Trine Invitational on Friday, collecting 159.75 points at the event and falling just 2.50 points shy of the hosting school. Seth Bidlack broke DC’s school record in the 500-meter dash, crossing the line in 69.16 seconds.

Bidlack's time edged out former DC record-holder, Shawn Roth, by less than a quarter of a second as he coasted through the line for a first-place finish at the meet. Teammate, Keiquan Blackmon, finished the event in 70.99 seconds to finish second in the event.
DC's sprinters showed up big in the 4x200-meter relay as well, with Ryan Perry, Dan Hardin-Wallace, Josh Herron and Aaron Demecs teaming up for a first place finish at 1:33.23, just .14 of a second off the school record. The Jackets' distance medley relay team took first place at the meet as well with a time of 11:01.58.
Junior mid-distance runner, Aaron Fraley, posted the best 800-meter run of his career, placing second in the event with a time of 2:03.82. Fraley's performance ranks sixth in school history for the event.
In jumping events, Thavez Jeter led Defiance with first-place finishes in both the high jump and triple jump, and a fifth-place finish in the long jump.
Defiance will hit the track again on Saturday, Feb. 5, at Ohio Northern University's Polar Bear Invitational. The meet is scheduled to run from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
