DC Sets Marks at Season-Opening Northwest Ohio Invitational
FINDLAY, Ohio – DC’s 2011 indoor track and field season got under way on Friday, when the Jackets took part in the Northwest Ohio Invitational in Findlay, Ohio. HCAC Preseason Runner-to-Watch, Justin Perkins, got off to a good start by breaking DC’s school record in the 3,000-meter run.

Perkins finished the 3,000-meter run in 9:02.49, edging out his teammate, Hayden Krick, for the top spot on DC's all-time performances list. Krick had a nice meet of his own, finishing the one-mile run in 4:32.19 for fourth-place in the event.
Seth Bidlack improved his personal record in the 800-meter dash and inched closer to the school record with a time of 2:00.63, while Madison Murphy came in at 2:02.91 in the event, marking the fifth-best performance in program history.
Defiance dominated in the high jump, with Austin Trivett clearing 1.89 meters for a first-place finish, and Thavez Jeter claiming second place at 1.84 meters. DC's Nick Goins and Tyler Anderson tied for fifth place in the event with jumps of 1.74 meters.
Defiance will resume competition in one week at the Trine Invitational in Angola, Ind. The meet is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
