Multiple School Records Fall in Inaugural Indoor Meet

The Purple and Gold had many impressive performances, including four that broke DC school records. The record-breaking athletes were junior Dan Hardin-Wallace, junior Jordan Weber, sophomore Joe Davis and freshman Tony Parrett.
Hardin-Wallace broke Austin Trivett's pole vault record by clearing a height of 15-03.50. This mark won the pole vault event for Defiance. The junior bettered his previous best by over two inches.
In the 60-meter hurdles, Weber broke his own record for the fifth time this season. The junior ran the event in a time of 8.66 seconds, shattering his previous best of 8.82 seconds. Weber has continually improved throughout the season.
The 1,000-meter run was dominated by sophomore mid-distance runner Joe Davis, who finished the run in a time of 2:36.51. This meet was the first time the sophomore competed in the 1,000-meter run all season.
The fourth record breaker was Parrett, another mid-distance runner for the Jackets. Parrett competed in the 600-meter dash and broke the previous DC record by over two seconds with a time of 1:23.67. Friday was the first time the freshman had ever competed in the event at the collegiate level.
Other notable performances were turned in by junior thrower Tom Postema and freshman jumper Reggie Neal. Postema won the weight throw and shot put events, while neal placed first in the long jump.
