Purple and Gold’s Parrett Sets 800 Record at Fred Wilt Invite
ANDERSON, Ind. – In men’s track and field action, Defiance College’s Troy Parrett competed on his own for the Yellow Jackets at the Fred Wilt Invitational held by Anderson University on Saturday, February 23rd. The sophomore came in third place during the event with a time of 1:54.30.

This is Parrett's third time this season establishing a new 800-meter run school record. He has slowly shaved seconds off of his record-setting times, as the season has progressed. The second-year runner originally set the mark at the Defiance Invite (1:56.04), but then bested that time at the All-Ohio Championships (1:55.44) on February 9.
Parrett's time currently ranks 15th in National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III. It is also the top time in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.
The DC track and field team will return to action on March 1 when it sends team members to compete at the Last Chance Meet and try to make qualifying marks for the Division III NCAA Indoor Championships the following week. The Last Chance Meet time and location are soon to be determined.
