One week after chalking up a first place finish in the 3,000 meter at the DC Holiday Meet, Davis sprinted a 2:34.29 in the 1,000 meter to place first overall and break his own Yellow Jacket record in the event, which he set last season with a time of 2:36.51. Also in the same race, sophomore Troy Parrett came in right behind Davis with a time of 2:35.26 that also surpassed the old mark.
On the afternoon, senior Dan Hardin-Wallace also showed well with a pair of top finishes in both the 60 and 200 meter dash. The Bowsher High product shaved off .02 seconds from his 60 meter run the previous weekend to tie his personal record with a 7.16 mark. Hardin-Wallace then repeated with a new personal best time of 23.09 in the 200.
Another senior DC runner also grabbed first at the meet, as Jordan Weber ran an 8.71 in the 60 meter hurdles. Other top finishes for the Purple and Gold track runners included second-place finishes by a pair of freshman in Vinnie Perez (200 meter - 24.26) and Daniel Hilburn (triple jump - 11.12 meters).
For the Defiance throwers, junior Anthony Nolfi threw the farthest in the weight throw with a toss of 13.54 meters. Then in the shot put, sophomore Luiyi Nunez came in second with a throw of 13.41 meters.
The DC men's track and field team will be back in action on January 18, 2013 after it returns from the long Christmas break. The squad will be competing at the Northwestern Ohio Invitational hosted by Findlay University. Events will begin at 2:30 p.m.
