DC Men Compete in Day One of Outdoor HCAC Championships
BLUFFTON, OHIO- The Defiance College men's track team traveled to Bluffton University to compete in day one of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships and totaled one point to end the day in 10th place.
BLUFFTON, OHIO- The Defiance College men's track team traveled to Bluffton University to compete in day one of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships and totaled one point to end the day in 10th place.
All of DC's top finishes came in the field events that included freshman Javier Castillo who placed ninth in the discus throw following a best attempt of 127' 10.00". Sophomore Joshua Petro (Ocala, Fla./The Villages) finished just behind Castillo in 10th place and had a toss of 123' 8.00". Freshman Justin Bergquist (Cincinnati/Northwest) finished 16th with a distance of 114' 6.00".
In the men's shot put, Castillo also recorded a top mark with an eighth-place showing with a distance of 42' 8.75". Sophomore Josh Ream tied for 12th in the same event with a mark of 41' 1.75" and freshman James Baranoski Jr. (Bloomingdale, Mich./Bloomingdale) completed the list of Yellow Jacket competitors with a 14th-place finish posting a throw of 40' 11.75".
The top placing in the running events for DC was turned in by junior Zach Roush (Nashville, Ind./Brown County) who came in 13th place in the 10,000-meter run after running a time of 35:23.73.
The Defiance men will conclude the two-day HCAC Championships tomorrow (Saturday, April 30). Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Bluffton.
