Another school record falls at Ashland

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Defiance College indoor track programs competed over two days at Ashland University's Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational at Niss Athletic Center on Friday and Saturday. Facing a mixture of D1, D2, D3 and NAIA competition, the Yellow Jackets sent a lean contingent to Mid-Ohio and managed to make some waves with one new school record and multiple personal bests.

The men's 4x400 meter relay team of J'Vontae Barnes, Marcus Snell, Jajuan Hall and Xavier Wilson broke the school record with 3:23.13 time. It is the second meet in a row the same quartet set a program record after setting the bar in 4x200 meter relay the previous weekend at Wittenberg.

On the women's side, Adeline Niyonkunda and Israa Khamis set PRs in the 3000 meters and 60-meter hurdles, respectively.

• 60 meters: Rakel Thompson, 8.17 (28th, prelims)
• 200 meters: Rakel Thompson, 26.86 (42nd, prelims)
• 400 meters: Mira Horvath, 1:02.26 (18th)
• 3000 meters: Adeline Niyonkunda, 11:38.30* (58th)
• 60m Hurdles: Israa Khamis, 9.84* (22nd)

MEN'S TRACK RESULTS

• 60 meters: Xavier Wilson, 6.89 (4th in prelims, DQ in finals), Marcus Snell, 7.16* (10th, prelims)
• 200 meters: Xavier Wilson, 21.92 (5th)
• 400 meters: J'Vontae Barnes, 50.33 (12th)
• 4x400 Relay: Barnes/Snell/Hall/Wilson, 3:23.13 # (8th)

• High Jump: Jesse Brown, 1.96m (13th)
