DC competes next to premiere programs at Penn Relays
PHILADELPHIA - Defiance College men's track and field competed against numerous Division I and II programs at the prestigious Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at historic Franklin Field.
The Yellow Jackets were the only non-D1 program from the state of Ohio as DC's Jesse Brown competed in the high jump and the quartet of Xavier Wilson, Marcus Snell, Yanis Lepage, and J'Vontae Barnes ran the 4x200 meter relay.
Brown was the first to compete on Friday in a field of 31 athletes in the high jump, and cleared 1.91 meters on his first attempt and 1.96 meters on his second try. However, he was unable to clear 2.01 meters and logged a 16th-place finish. The event winner from North Carolina State leapt 2.11 meters.
In the relays, DC had an impressive run of 1:27.20 and finished 11th among 18 programs. The top-3 in the event from Clemson, South Florida and Houston posted times in less than 1:22.
