Jackets finish home schedule on Senior Night
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets hosted the program's last home game of its inaugural season and were defeated 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-23) by the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets (6-18, 3-13 WHAC) closed the home schedule 4-9 at the Weaner Center in 2026. Prior to the match, DC honored the team's lone departing senior, Oniel Alvarez, who went on to lead the squad with 7 digs on the night. Matthew Schulte topped the Defiance stat sheet with 10 kills and 4 blocks while Adam Sutton dished out 24 assists.
The Cougars (10-12, 7-9 WHAC) was efficient on the attack all night, starting with 16 kills in the first set and committing just 2 errors in the second set to jump ahead to a 2-0 lead. The Cougars used a 10-2 run to break a 12-12 tie to take command of the opening set and a 6-1 spurt after another 12-12 tie in the second. The third set came down to the wire with 7 ties and the Cougars never led by more 3 points.

Defiance wraps up the season with a pair of matches in the Hoosier State this weekend. On Friday, DC travels to 8th-ranked Bethel at 7 p.m. before playing at Goshen on Saturday.
