- Assistant Coach, Men's & Women's
Bio
Dustin Carrier joined the Defiance College men's volleyball coaching staff in August 2025 ahead of the program's first season of competition, and took on the assistant role for the women's team in February '26. Carrier brings previous college and club coaching experience to DC, along with an extensive background as a player.
Prior to Defiance, Carrier was the women's volleyball assistant at Central Methodist University (Fayette, Mo.) in 2024. During his one season at CMU, he was named Assistant Coach of the Year by the Heart of America Conference and AVCA Midwest Region while the team maintained a Top-25 ranking throughout the season and reached the NAIA National Tournament. He started coaching college volleyball in 2023 at Campbellsville University (Ky.), also an NAIA program. The Tigers were the 2023 Mid-South Conference regular-season champs. Carrier also has coaching experience dating back to 2017 with club teams and college camps involving Nebraska, Florida, Tampa and South Florida. He also served as a club head coach during the 2024-25 club season, mentoring two teams in Missouri that turned out records of 17-1 and 13-1.
While getting his first experience coaching college on the men's side, he is no stranger to the men's volleyball scene. He was a four-year high school starter in Hawaii and also played club throughout his prep career. In college, he played club volleyball at both Long Beach State and South Florida in addition to serving as a manager and practice player for the USF women's volleyball team.
Coach Carrier earned his bachelor's degree in personal finance from Long Beach State in 2017 and completed his second degree in finance at the University of South Florida in 2020.
