DC Spring Sports Add 13 to HCAC All-Academic Team

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its spring honorees for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team. Defiance College placed 13 student-athletes on the list, raising its total for the 2009-2010 academic year to 30.

In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the spring season.

DC led all HCAC institutions with five Academic All-HCAC student-athletes from its softball team, while its overall group of 13 student-athletes was the fourth-highest total in the conference.

Defiance's standout student-athletes from the spring semester included Trevor Ault, Austin Kleman, Bryn Lehman, Todd Odell, Lisa Brophy, Elizabeth Petrie, Aubrie Ridinger, Kelly Schnipke, Kelsey Williams, Matt Rohlf, Kerstyn Clover, Ellen Stryffeler and Courtney Swabb.
