Softball sweeps Rose-Hulman in HCAC home battle, Hubble becomes all-time career runs leader

The Defiance softball team swept Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Rose-Hulman on Sunday afternoon, taking Game 1, 3-0, and winning Game 2, 7-4. During Game 1, senior Kalin Hubble became the all-time career runs leader.

Notables: During Game 1 of the doubleheader Hubble crossed home plate and became the all-time career runs leader for the Defiance softball program with 109. She passed Jordan Osbourn ('16-'19) who previously held the record with 108 runs.

Game 1

Inside The Numbers

• Senior Taylor Biggs started on the mound for the Yellow Jackets and recorded the win. She allowed zero runs off two hits and struckout four batters.
• Sophomore Brooke Silcox led Defiance at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, including two doubles.
• Hubble notched two hits that included a triple.
• Junior Josilyn Guzman added one hit and one RBI during the game.
• Junior Marissa Roberts chipped in one hit.

• Freshman Anika Craft pitched all six innings for the Yellow Jackets and tallied the win in the circle. She allowed four runs off six hits and recorded six strikeouts.

• Hubble, Guzman, senior Hali Geraci, and freshman Destiny Coil each added one hit and one RBI.

• Defiance tallied the first two runs of the game in the first inning to take an early 2-0 lead.
• Rose-Hulman tied the game 2-2 in the third inning off Defiance errors.
