Hubble becomes all-time career leader in RBIs and doubles

Defiance softball senior Kalin Hubble broke two records today in becoming the all-time career leader in RBIs and doubles against Transylvania. The Yellow Jackets fell in both games falling in Game 1, 7-2 and Game 2, 8-7.

The Basics

Notables: During Game 1 of the doubleheader Hubble smacked her record breaking 39th double to become Defiance softball's all-time career doubles leader. She passes current head coach Megan Warren ('14-'19) who previously held the record. Then in Game 2, she notched her 112th career RBI to break the record that was previously held by Marah Robinson ('08-'11) who had 111 career RBIs.

Game 1

Inside The Numbers

• Senior Taylor Biggs earned the start on the mound for the Yellow Jackets and pitched all seven innings. She allowed seven runs off nine hits and struckout five batters.
• Junior Josilyn Guzman led Defiance with one hit and one RBI.
• Hubble, sophomore Brooke Silcox, senior Hali Geraci, and sophomore Genesis Brooks all each recorded one hit.
• Carlee Jeter started in the circle for the Pioneers pitching all seven innings. She allowed two runs off five hits and tallied nine strikeouts.
• Stella Wulker led Transylvania with two hits and two RBIs.

The Difference

• Transylvania scored a run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead.
• Defiance grabbed two runs in the fourth to cut their deficit to 3-2.
• The Pioneers scored two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take the win, 7-2.

Notables: During Game 1 of the doubleheader Hubble crossed home plate and became the all-time career runs leader for the Defiance softball program with 109. She passed Jordan Osbourn ('16-'19) who previously held the record with 108 runs.

• Freshman Anika Craft started on the mound the Yellow Jackets and pitched the first 4.1 innings. She allowed five runs off nine hits and recorded six strikeouts.
• Hubble led Defiance at the plate with two hits and three RBIs.
• Silcox added two hits and one RBI.
• Junior Marissa Roberts freshman Destiny Coil each notched two hits during the contest.
• Senior Sophie Moller grabbed one hit and two RBIs.
• Freshman Amber Krause chipped in one hit.
• Jeter pitched the first 3.1 innings and allowed four runs off seven hits.

The Difference

• The Yellow Jackets grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the first inning.
• The Pioneers grabbed a run in the second inning to make it 4-1.
• Transylvania took the lead in the fifth inning scoring four runs to make the score 5-4.
• The Pioneers earned two runs in the sixth and added a run in the seventh to increase their lead to 8-4.
• Defiance mounted a valiant comeback in the seventh but came up just short in the end, 8-7.
