Comden, King Earn All-HCAC Honors for Second-Straight Year

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Defiance College women's basketball program landed three players on the 2013 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball All-HCAC Teams. Kim Comden and Erica King received the nod for First Team All-HCAC recognition for the second consecutive season and Megan Zachrich received Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors. [HCAC Release]

Comden, one of the squad's three seniors, led the Jackets in points with 14.1 per game, rebounds with an average of 7.2 per contest and blocks with 1.9 per game. The center ranked in the top five among all HCAC players in the categories of points per game and rebounds per game and led the league in blocks. The Ayersville High product finished her career in fourth place on the all-time career blocks leaders list at DC with 117. Comden also garnered recognition for her attitude on the court, as the senior was placed on the HCAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The second member of the Yellow Jackets to receive top marks from the conference was King, DC's sharpshooting guard. The junior led the Purple and Gold and the HCAC in three-point conversions per game with a blistering rate of 2.8, a mark double that of the second place finisher in the category. King was second on the team in scoring with an average of 13.3 points per game.

Rounding out the list of Defiance players who received accolades was Zachrich, who enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore. The guard did it all for the Yellow Jackets, as the sophomore ranked second on the team in assists, steals and blocks and third on the team in points. Zachrich was also one of three players to start every game for the Purple and Gold this season.

The trio of aforementioned players led Defiance to a season record of 14-12 and a conference mark of 11-7. The 11 wins in the Heartland are the most for any Defiance team since the 2003-2004 campaign.

The Yellow Jackets return six players from this year's squad who averaged at least 12.0 minutes of play per game, including three starters for the 2013-2014 season.
