DC's Tietje Named HCAC Player of the Week
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College senior women's basketball player Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference "Player of the Week."
GREENWOOD, IND. -- Defiance College senior women's basketball player Kelsey Tietje (Deshler/Patrick Henry) has been named this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference "Player of the Week."
The Yellow Jackets began the 2016-17 season at the Penn State-Behrend Tournament where Tietje averaged a double-double with 25.5 points per game and 14.5 rebounds per game. She shot 54.5 percent (18-of-33) from the floor and was 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) at the foul line.
In addition, Tietje knotched an assist to go along with a steal and three blocked shots in the first weekend of play. Following the tournament, Tietje was named to the All-Tournament Team as well as being selected the tournament "Most Valuable Player."
Defiance will travel to Ada, Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for a non-conference game against Ohio Northern University. The game will be part of a basketball doubleheader with the Yellow Jacket men's team. The women will tip-off against the Polar Bears at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
