Jackets create havoc in second half comeback over Great Lakes Christian
DEFIANCE, Ohio – An electric turnaround after halftime jolted the Defiance Yellow Jackets to overcome a 15-point deficit to beat the Great Lake Christian Crusaders, 77-60, at the Karl H. Weaner Center on Saturday.
With the victory, the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 0-2 WHAC) completed a 2-0 weekend co-hosting the 50th annual Purple and Gold Tournament.
The Yellow Jackets trailed at halftime, 42-29, and then cranked up the heat defensively out of the locker room break. DC busted loose on a 16-0 run to take the lead halfway through the third and ended the quarter outscoring Great Lake Christian 27-8. DC carried that momentum in the second half to flip the script on a 48-19 second-half tally.
Aside from a strong finish to the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets' offensive struggles led to their 13-point hole at halftime.
