DC women fall at Indiana Tech on Saturday
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In Saturday afternoon action in the WHAC, the Defiance Yellow Jackets were defeated by the Indiana Tech Warriors, 93-47, at the Schaefer Center.
The Warriors (18-4, 15-1 WHAC), who are ranked No. 25 nationally in the NAIA, won their ninth straight while dropped the Yellow Jackets (3-19, 0-16 WHAC) to their 15th straight loss.
Defiance held an early 5-4 lead after a 3-pointer by Ali Mowen, but the Warriors closed the quarter on a 15-4 run and a 19-9 lead. The Warriors erupted for a 25-9 second period with 5 3-pointers and forced 12 DC turnovers in the first two quarters to take a 44-18 lead into the locker room. The Yellow Jacket offense hovered around 30 percent from the floor until closing the game strong in the fourth quarter, shooting 44 percent and posting 18 points in the final period.
Indiana Tech shot 50 percent for the afternoon with 13 treys while forcing DC into 24 total turnovers. Reigning WHAC Player of the Year Taylor Covington led all scorers with 24 points for the Warriors. DC's Lorena Caparros led the team with 13 points. San'Taizia Thomas led the Jackets with 9 rebounds to match a single-game career best.

The Yellow Jackets return home to play the Cornerstone Golden Eagles on Wednesday at the Karl H. Weaner Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. with the men's game to follow.
