Bio
Mazen Maali joined the Defiance College women's basketball staff in July 2026 for his first season of college coaching.
Maali is a 2023 graduate of Old Dominion University, where he was a team manager for the Division I Monarchs while earning his undergraduate degree in sport management. In this role, he helped with practices, film, and training camps in addition to all the equipment and facility needs of the team.
His coaching career launched after graduation at the AAU level with 15-16U boys and girls based in Virginia Beach. With 4 seasons of AAU experience, he spent last winter as the JV head coach and varsity assistant at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, Va.
In addition to his coaching experience, Mazen has been molded by experience as a YMCA sports director, a data and research intern at Disruptive Sports Agency, and a sports business immersive experience with the NBA Summer League in 2025.
