Bio
Doug Miller joined the Defiance College coaching staff in January 2025 as the first bowling coach in program history. He will be in charge of coaching the women's program that begins competition during the 2025-26 academic season.
Miller is from Montpelier and has over 30 years of coaching experience as a private coach and also helped launch the bowling programs at Bryan High School. He has remained actively involved in the Golden Bears' programs as a head coach, assistant, and personal coach since 2011. Bryan's boys have won five NWOAL championships since the program launched while the girls team has won 9 of 13 titles since the conference sponsored their first championship in 2012.
Miller is a USBC-certified Silver Tier coach and has produce numerous team and individual accomplishments. He was the head coach of the Bryan's girl's team that reached the state tournament in 2015, which was the first of four state tournament appearances in program history. He also worked as a personal coach with the program during the 2019 state runner-up season and 2020 state championship campaign. From an individual standpoint, he coached Bryan's Danika Hickey to the individual state championship as a freshman in 2015, and also coached Chandler Stevens to a national championship at the Survivor Tournament presented by xbowling in Detroit in 2013. Stevens has since joined the Professional Bowling Association circuit with one regional victory following his college career at UNOH.
