Defiance Hosts Women's Fall Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College women's golf team hosted the 2008 DC Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon at Kettenring Country Club. The tournament was the final home competition of the fall season for the Lady Jackets.

Ohio Northern took home the team championship with a 354, while the ONU junior varsity squad finished second with a 373. Northwestern Ohio was third with a 382 and Heidelberg closed out the team standings with a 419.

Defiance and Rochester also competed but did not have enough players to log a team score. DC was forced to compete as individuals after a pair of starters could not finish the round due to sickness.

Cali Jo Deeter led all Yellow Jacket golfers with a 120 and was followed by Tracy Sauter (125), Brittany Gow (128) and Gina White (134).

ONU's Kaylea Thresher turned in the top score of the afternoon with an 86 and her teammates Ashley Johnson (87) and Megan Russell (89) claimed the second and third-best finishes.

Defiance will compete in the Manchester Invitational on Oct. 4 with the tee time set for 8:30 am.
