Boroff places top-20 at IU East Fall Invite
RICHMOND, Ind. - Defiance College women's golf complete the team's first two-day tournament of the season with competition in the IU East Fall Invitational at Highland Lakes Golf Course on Friday and Saturday.
The top Yellow Jacket golfer in the women's tournament was Winter Boroff, who fired rounds of 83 and 81 for a 36-hole total of 164 to finish tied for 19th. Boroff's two-day score was a top-5 total in program history as the program continues to set new marks.
Following Boroff was a solid two-day performance by Isabelle Vance, who turned in scorecards of 87 and 83 for a 170 and a top-30 finish. Vance's two-day score was her third-lowest 36-hole effort as a Yellow Jacket.
Emily Momany shot her best round of the young season on Friday with a round of 101. After finishing with a 205 for the weekend, the sophomore is carrying an 18-hole average seven strokes lower than per freshman average.
Each Braylin Shaner and Hailey Becker competed in their first collegiate tournaments. While Shaner withdrew from the season opener, she submitted rounds of 119 and 115. Becker also improved from the first to second day of the tournament with a 123 followed by a 120.
Trine freshman Rylee Smith earned medalist honors after shooting 146 over the two days. She cleared the field by six strokes by firing a two-over-par 74 on Friday followed by a par-72 on Saturday. In the team standings, the host IU East earned the victory over Trine with a 621.
The next competition for the Yellow Jackets is on September 9 hosted by Adrian College at Tecumseh Country Club.
