Yellow Jackets compete at Heidelberg Fall Invite
FOSTORIA, Ohio - Defiance College women's golf completed the two-day Heidelberg Fall Invitational on Saturday at Fostoria Country Club and placed 14th. Defiance posted a 390 after the first day and improve the second time on the course with a 373 on Saturday to total 763, the lowest 36-hole tournament score of the season and lowest single round of the year so far during the final round.
Winter Boroff just missed the top-20 with a 165 for a 22nd place tie. She opened with a round of 81 on Friday before shooting 84 on Saturday. Isabelle Vance rebounded from a 92 on Friday to an 84 on Saturday and placed 37th. Emily Momany logged her lowest round of the fall season so far with a 99 on Saturday and finished with a 205 for the tournament. Each Braylin Shaner and Hailey Becker set new personal bests over the weekend. Shaner's 111 on Friday and 109 on Saturday gave the freshman four consecutive rounds of golf resulting in PRs. For Becker, she shot a 106 on Saturday to set a new personal best in her young career.
The large field consisted of 97 players and 17 teams. Mount St. Joseph held on for the team crown after a 306 on Friday and 317 on Saturday, which finished two strokes better than Adrian who had the lowest team score of 308 on Saturday. Mount Union's Jocelyn Taylor earned medalist honors over MSJ's Alyssa Haverstraw, finishing with a 148 on twin rounds of 74.
Up next for the women's golf team is the program's first-ever WHAC competition with the conference's Fall Preview on September 23-24. The tournament will be a 36-hole event at Stonehedge North Country Club in Augusta, Mich.
