Women's golf finishes season at WHAC Championships
AUGUSTA, Mich. - Defiance College's women's golf team finished their 2024-25 season with 54 holes at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday. This year's conference championship golf meet was the program's first as a conference member and was held at Stonehedge Country Club in Michigan.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets finished 11th among 13 teams with a team total of 1262. DC's foursome improved round-by-round after starting with a 428 and 418 on Tuesday, capped off by 416 in Wednesday's final round.
Winter Boroff led the way for Defiance with her third straight top-20 finish in a conference championship meet. The senior was consistent across all three rounds to total 248 for the meet with rounds of 84, 81 and 83. With those steady rounds, Boroff finished the season with an 83.9 18-hole average to break her own single-season record. For her career, she averaged an 89.6 and is the owner of the program's 18, 36 and 54-hole records.
Emily Momany was Defiance's next finisher with a 330 for the tournament. After a 116 opening round, she shot twin rounds of 107 to complete the competition. Braylin Shaner finished right behind Momany on the leaderboard with a 340 on rounds of 112, 114 and 114. Hailey Becker was also close behind with a 344 after rounds of 116, 116 and 112. All three players beat their scores and place from the WHAC Fall Preview at the same course in September.
Lawrence Tech earned the team conference championship, their first-ever women's golf WHAC title, snapping the streak of six-time defending champion UNOH. Individual medalists honors went to LTU's Tanawan Vetchayanvivat who shot -4 for the tournament fueled by a -6 final round. She cleared the field by 11 strokes of second place.
