DC finished women's golf season at WHAC Championship

YORKTOWN, Ind. - Defiance College women's golf completed its 2025-26 season on Tuesday at the WHAC Championship and turned in a 10th-place finish at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.

Defiance had a strong start to the tournament on Monday with a 364 as a team that featured an average score of 87 among the top 3 scoring golfers, led by Madison Gray with a 78. Gray enjoyed a 12-par and 1-birdie round and stood in fourth place at the close of the first 18 holes. Gray's scores climbed the next two rounds to 87 and 94 to finish 24th in the field. Olivia Splete matched a career-best 92 in the second round to highlight DC's second-round action, and Magen Hines led the Jackets in Tuesday's final round with an 89.

The Yellow Jackets closed the tournament 10th place with a team total of 1145, which was the program's best in a 54-hole event since joining the WHAC. UNOH finished atop the team leaderboard 2 strokes ahead of Lawrence Tech. The Racers also brought home the individual medalist with Molly Douglas winning by 4 strokes with a 228 total across the 3 rounds and was the only golfer in the field to shoot below 80 in all three rounds.

The WHAC also announced its 2025-26 women's golf awards with three Yellow Jackets earning recognition for sportsmanship and academic achievement. Magen Hines was the program's nominee to the WHAC Champion of Character Team while Hailey Becker and Braylin Shaner were All-Academic Team for holding a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher at sophomore standing or above.
