Defiance Falls in Season Debut
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Women’s Soccer team opened their season against a visiting Waynesburg (Pa.) University squad. The visiting Jackets swarmed the hosting Yellow Jackets early on for a 3-1 victory.

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Women's Soccer team opened their season against a visiting Waynesburg (Pa.) University squad. The visiting Jackets swarmed the hosting Yellow Jackets early on for a 3-1 victory.
Defiance (0-1) fell behind to an early two goal deficit during the opening half. However, they were able to rekindle some momentum during the second half when senior Lindsay Bubnick (Vandalia/Butler) found classmate Maegan Redick (Lima/Shawnee) to narrow the deficit.
Redick was able to maintain possession despite being pressured by multiple defenders before sending the ball to the back of the net.
Waynesburg (1-0) bounced back for their third and final goal of the season opener.
Defiance will resume action on Sunday as they host Heidelberg University at 2:00 pm for the finale of the Purple and Gold Classic.
