Women's Soccer Stumbles at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, OHIO - The Defiance College women's soccer team stumbled at Mount Union on Wednesday evening, 5-0.

The Yellow Jackets (1-5 overall) finished with three shots, led by senior Kassie Memmer (Bowling Green) with a team-high two shots. Sophomore Madi Bowman (Eaton) led DC in frame tallying 15 saves on 20 shots faced. 

The Purple Raiders (5-1 overall) grabbed the early 1-0 lead at the 2:18 minute mark as they navigated the DC defense for the quick goal. 

Mount Union continued on the attack delivering two more blows before halftime to extend its lead, 3-0. 

MU entered the break with 13 shots, 11 of which were on goal, while Bowman recorded eight saves for the Yellow Jackets. 

In the second half, Mount Union continued on the attack tacking on two more goals, one at the 58th minute and the final at the 79th minute en route to the victory.

Mount Union finished with 27 shot, 20 of which were on frame. 

Defiance returns to action Saturday, September 23 as they travel to Baldwin Wallace. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
