Newman and Ferry earn All-HCAC Honorable Mention accolades

CARMEL, Ind. - The Defiance College women's soccer team landed two names upon the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference lists on Tuesday afternoon. 

Seniors Blake Newman (Jackson, Mich. / Lumen Christi) and Malia Ferry (Milford / Milford) secured All-HCAC Honorable Mention.

Newman earned her second career All-HCAC honor after starting in all 20 games for the Yellow Jackets. The senior netted seven goals and one assist during the 2019 campaign. She was second on the team for minutes and tallied 15 points. Newman was also tied for 6th in the HCAC standings for goals scored. 

Ferry also earned All-HCAC Honorable Mention for her efforts during the season. The Milford, Ohio native started all 20 games for the Purple and Gold during the 2019 season as a defender. Ferry led the team in minutes played and was a part of a defense that recorded three shutouts. 

Defiance concluded the 2019 season with a 4-15-1 overall mark and a 0-9 HCAC record.
