Defiance and Midway clash, the Eagles take the win
DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College women's soccer dropped its second of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Midway at Justin F. Coressel Stadium.
The Eagles (1-0-1) struck twice in the first half to build their lead. Sloane Pollock scored the opener in the 18th minute, and Sadie Pollock added another in the 26th minute.
Defiance (1-2-0) put pressure on the Eagles' defense throughout the match, outshooting Midway 6-3 in the opening period, but couldn't break through against goalkeeper Lilly Riordan, who finished with five saves. The Yellow Jackets tallied nine shots overall, led by freshman midfielder Rylie Myers with five attempts and freshman forward Tatum Oberhauser with four. Freshman keeper Hannah Redick kept Defiance in the game with 11 saves on 13 shots-on-goal.

Rylie Myers paced the attack with a team-high five shots, including three on goal. Her five attempts were her firsts of her collegiate career.

Tatum Oberhauser added four shots, two of them on target, to keep pressure on the Eagle's defense.

Hannah Redick recorded 11 saves in net, marking her second double-digit effort of the season. She is now 1-2 in goal.

Defiance's defense held Midway scoreless in the second half, allowing just seven shots after the break.

The Yellow Jackets will head to Bluffton's Alumni Field for their first away game of the season against the Beavers Sept. 1. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
