Yellow Jackets take down Kentucky Christian 2-1
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Yellow Jackets slid past the Kentucky Christian Knights 2-1 at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field Thursday afternoon. Tatum Oberhauser scored two goals in the second period to give DC the advantage, while the defense stayed strong to win the game.
For the first 44 minutes of play, the Yellow Jackets' and Knights' defense battled fiercely over possession. Both teams were nearly even as the Purple and Gold shot eight times to Kentucky Christian's seven, each with three on goal. Within the 1-minute remaining mark of the first period, the Knights' Jasmyn Jones swerved around Yellow Jacket junior defender Haley Hughes to make it 1-0 at the half.
In the second period, it didn't take long for Defiance to even the score. An unassisted goal by freshman Oberhauser made it a 1-1 match in the 52nd minute. Not much later, in the 73rd minute, a pass from freshman Audree Johnson to Oberhauser iced the game as Oberhauser's shot hit the back of the net – her seventh score in six matches.
