SYLVANIA, Ohio - The Defiance Yellow Jackets suffered a 4-0 loss on the road to the conference-contending Lourdes Gray Wolves at Northview High School on Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (3-11-1, 0-8 WHAC) dropped their eighth consecutive game since starting the conference slate. Meanwhile, the Gray Wolves (9-2-0, 7-1 WHAC) add their seventh conference win to keep pace with UNOH atop the league standings.
For the match, Lourdes held Defiance out of the offensive equation and limited DC to zero shots on goal. The Gray Wolves led a 65-shot barrage and put 28 on frame. Yellow Jacket keeper Hannah Redick knocked down 22 shots for her second straight match with more than 20 saves.
The DC defense held the Gray Wolves off the board until the halfway point of the first half when Cecily Hughes scored an unassisted goal for the lone goal in the opening half. The Gray Wolves took 17 shots before their first goal found the net. In the second half, Lourdes netted three insurance goals to cement the win.
