GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A 6-0 win for the Cornerstone Golden Eagles dropped the Defiance Yellow Jackets to 0-9 in conference play as the penultimate week of the regular season is complete.
The Yellow Jackets (3-12-1, 0-9 WHAC) have lost nine straight while Saturday's loss was the team's eighth consecutive shutout.
Cornerstone got on the board just two minutes into the game and added another in the 10th minute. The Golden Eagles struck for a third time during the 21st minute to hold a commanding 3-0 lead at half while holding DC to just one shot in the first 45 minutes. For the second half, Cornerstone lined up 23 more shots and posted three goals to double their lead. Cornerstone had six goals from five different players as Gracie Gortmaker netted two goals.
DC's Hanah Redick stood tall between the posts and racked up 18 saves. It was her fourth straight match with at least 17 saves.
