GREENWOOD, Ind. – One week after winning the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the week, DC's Kali George grabbed the HCAC Women's Track Athlete of the week honors with her performance this past weekend at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships.
George (East Palestine, Ohio/H.S.) set two school records at All-Ohio on Saturday, February 9. The junior recorded the new DC mark in the 400-meter dash with a first-place time of 59.21 seconds, which currently stands as the top mark in the HCAC this season and 22nd in all of National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III. She was the only competitor at the meet to notch a time under one minute. George was also a member of the 4-x-400-meter relay team that finished sixth overall with a school record time of 4:13.46.
This is the first time since Ashlyn Howell in 2009-2010 that a Purple and Gold track and field team member has been awarded both field and track athlete of the week honors in the same season for either the men's or women's sides.
The Yellow Jacket track and field squad will return to action next Saturday, February 16 when it hosts the HCAC Indoor Championships at the George M. Smart Athletic Center. The championships will begin at 1:00 p.m.
