DC women ranked eighth in Great Lakes Region
NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III released an updated national and regional rankings list and the Defiance College Yellow Jackets once again have cracked the regional top 10.
NEW ORLEANS – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III released an updated national and regional rankings list and the Defiance College Yellow Jackets once again have cracked the regional top 10.
In the Great Lakes Region, DC is ranked eighth place. They are the highest rated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Team. They are also the only HCAC team inside the top 10 in the Great Lakes Region.
Not only are the Yellow Jackets ranked in the top 10, but several athletes are in the top eight in different events as well.
Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla. / Astronaut) is the highest rated individual for DC. She ranked third in both the 60-m dash and the 200-meter dash.
Fellow freshman Sam Cook (Raiford, Fla. / Bradford County) ranks sixth in the shot put in the Great Lakes Region.
Margaret Sarfino (Dayton, Ohio / Kettering Fairmont) is ranked eighth in two events. She cracks the rankings in both the pentathlon and triple jump.
Senior Kali George (East Palestine, Ohio / East Palestine) is also ranked eighth in two events. In the 400-meter dash and the high jump, she sees the high ranking.
Finally, the 4x400-meter relay team of Wilson, George, Sarfino, and Brooke Lime (Defiance, Ohio / Defiance) is also ranked eighth in the Great Lakes Region.
The Yellow Jackets will be in action this Saturday, March 1 in Anderson, Ind.
