Defiance Chosen to Claim HCAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Title

GREENWOOD, IND. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches have selected Defiance women's indoor track and field team as the frontrunner to claim the 2015 HCAC indoor championship title.

The Yellow Jackets received 94 points and six first-place votes, narrowly outscoring Hanover (Ind.) College (92).  

Defiance earned the school's first indoor championship last winter, holding off second place Hanover. Sophomore Micah Wilson (Mims, Fla. /Astronaut) claimed All-HCAC honors a year ago after earning the title in the 60-meter dash with a conference-record time of 7.87 seconds. Wilson was also a member of the winning 800-meter relay and 1,600-meter relay teams.

Wilson was named to the HCAC "Players to Watch List" for Defiance, along with juniors Waverly Weaks (Liberty Center), Eme Miller (Portland, Ind. /Jay County) and Bree Anderson (Huntertown, Ind. /Carroll).

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 when they host the Defiance College Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
