Jackets Suffer Tough Loss to Marygrove

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The men's soccer team dropped a 3-2 decision to Marygrove College on Wednesday, despite out-shooting the Mustangs 19-10 on the night. The loss drops Defiance to 3-7 on the season.
Freshman Zachary Nawrot recorded his first goal of the season, giving the Jackets a 1-0 advantage at the 33:50 mark. Marygrove would respond with a goal three minutes later to tie the game up at 1-1 going into halftime.
The Mustangs took a 2-1 lead in the 72nd minute on a goal by Jordan Berry, but Kenneth Kessler answered with his first goal of the season to tie the game, 2-2, with 12 minutes remaining. Marygrove would go on to score another goal with three minutes left to take the victory.
The Yellow Jackets will begin a three-game stretch of road games against HCAC opponents with a match against Mount St. Joseph on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
