Men’s Track and Field Posts Strong Showing at Adrian

Junior thrower Tom Postema, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader in shot put, discus and hammer throw, won all three of the events at the invitational. Postema set marks of 15.16 meters in the shot put, 48.00 meters in the discus and 56.00 meters in the hammer throw en route to the top spot.
Freshman Reggie Neal notched individual wins in the long jump and triple jump. Neal won the long jump with a leap of 6.67 meters, and the triple jump at 13.93 meters. Junior Dan Hardin-Wallace was top billing in the pole vault with a mark of 4.40 meters, and also finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 44.49 meters. Freshman Dylan Waggy was fourth in the pole vault at 3.95m.
Senior Jordan Weber was first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.91, while freshman Clayvon Finch grabbed second by finishing at 16.05. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, senior Justin Perkins beat the nearest competitor by 14 seconds to claim the win. He finished with a time of 9:42.95.
The Yellow Jackets got a pair of top-five finishes in the 1500-meter run as sophomore Joe Davis won the race with a time of 4:03.85 and junior Hayden Krick was fifth at 4:07.94. Davis also nabbed a fourth place finish in the 800-meter run with a final time of 1:50.03. The 800-meter run was claimed by freshman Troy Parrett, who won the event with a time of 1:55.54.
Defiance will be back in action on Saturday, April 14th when it travels to the All-Ohio Division III Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm in Delaware, Ohio.
