Men’s Track and Field Takes Second at Yellow Jacket Open
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team captured second place with 173 points at the 2012 Yellow Jackets Open. Defiance picked up wins from Troy Parrett, Hayden Krick and Reggie Neal at the event.

Parrett paced the field in the 800-meter run and finished with a time of 2:02.53. Teammate Adam Grillot finished second in the event with a time of 2:05.91.
Krick won the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:49.26. The Yellow Jackets dominated the event as Joe Davis and Justin Perkins notched second and third place with times of 15:56.13 and 16:03.34, respectively.
Neal earned the victory in the triple jump with a bound of 42-04.25. The freshman also picked up a third place in the long jump with a mark of 20-04.25.
Junior Tom Postema helped the Jackets to the second place finish with three second-place finishes of his own. Postema was second in the shot put (49-07.75), discus (143-02) and hammer throw (180-04). Kyle Tietje placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-00.75, while Ben Schwarzman was third in the event at 5-08.75.
The Yellow Jackets also received strong finishes from Dylan Waggy, Jordan Weber and Dan Hardin-Wallace. Waggy was second in the pole vault with a final mark of 12-06.75 and Weber placed second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.72. Hardin-Wallace was second in the javelin with a throw of 151-04.
Adrian won the event with 184 total points. Defiance finished tied with Taylor at 173 points.
The Yellow Jackets will be in action on Saturday, April 7 when they travel to Adrian, Michigan to compete at the Adrian Invitational. The meet will begin at 10:00 am.
