HCAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Year Goes to DC’s Postema
GREENWOOD, Ind. – It was a big weekend for the Yellow Jacket men’s track and field squad at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships. The team came away in third place, notched three All-HCAC and three Second-Team All-HCAC performers and added the top male field athlete in the conference.

This was the second-consecutive season in which senior Tom Postema was honored with the HCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year Award and All-HCAC. The Defiance, Ohio, native dominated the field in his two field event wins at the championship. He had a winning mark of 15.64 meters in the shot put and claimed the title in the weight throw with a HCAC record heave of 20.72 meters. The toss was the second-longest recorded weight throw in National Collegiate Athletic Association Div. III.
Following Postema on the All-HCAC list were junior Joe Davis and sophomore Troy Parrett. Davis took home the conference title in the 3,000-meter run with a conference record time 8:58.32 and placed first in the 5,000 with a school record 15:25.15. For the second-year track runner from Cedarville, Ohio, Parrett cruised past the finish line in 1:57.44 to the top spot in the 800-meter run.
Those earning Second-Team All-HCAC were seniors Hayden Krick and Dan Hardin-Wallace, along with junior Madison Murphy. The four-year DC veterans of Krick and Hardin-Wallace placed second in the 5,000-meter run and pole vault, respectively. Murphy earned his second-team honors from the 800-meter event.
Rounding out the conference honors was junior thrower Anthony Nolfi who was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Purple and Gold track and field team will return to action on March 1 when it competes at the Last Chance Meet and try to make qualifying marks for the Division III National Collegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championships the following week. The Last Chance Meet time and location are soon to be determined.
