GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior DC Harrier Hayden Krick was named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference runner of the week for men's cross country, after his record-setting performance at the Penn-State Behrend Invitational on Saturday, September 15.
Krick won the individual title at the meet after finishing with a first-place time of 25:57.8. His run shattered Defiance's old record time of 26:17 set by Justin Perkins in 2011. Krick also clocked a new Penn-State Behrend course record on the day.
In the race, Krick established a new personal record with the time and was the only runner to finish under 26 minutes in the 8K event. The Antwerp, Ohio, native blew away his previous best time of 27:18.8, by over one minute and twenty seconds.
Overall, Krick led the DC men's cross country team to arguably its best meet on the young season, as Jackets finished third overall with a score of 78 points, narrowly missing second place to Lake Erie College at 76 and topping all D-III schools at the meet.
The Yellow Jackets are off next weekend and will return to action Saturday, September 29 when they compete at the All-Ohio Championships in Cedarville, Ohio.
