NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Defiance College track and field team sent a handful of athletes to compete in the Gregory Invitational at North Central College on Thursday and Friday, in what was the final meet of the season before the NCAA Div. III National Championships next week.
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – A handful of Defiance College track and field athletes got a chance to test out Indiana University’s new track surface at the Billy Hayes Invitational on Friday, May 7. Aaron Demecs approved of the new surface, as he posted a school-record time of 49.51 in the 400-meter dash.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The men’s track and field team tallied 116 points at the HCAC Championships on Saturday, May 1, to finish in third place for the third-consecutive year. Defiance got a well-rounded team performance in the meet, highlighted by Seth Bidlack’s 800-meter dash conference title.
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team finished the first day of the HCAC Championships in second place with 39 total points. Rose-Hulman leads the pack with 42.50 points, while Defiance, Manchester and Anderson remain within striking distance.
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Yellow Jackets go a nice boost from the return of sprinter Aaron Demecs, and posted numerous strong performances at the Taylor Invitational on Saturday, April 24. Defiance placed seventh at the meet, garnering a total of 35 points on the day.
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team participated in the Adrian College All-American Invitational on Saturday, April 10. Justin Perkins, Jake Heiliger, Thavez Jeter and Austin Trivett all posted personal-records in the meet, which did not record team results.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The men’s track and field team placed fourth out of seven teams at the Yellow Jacket Open on Friday, April 2, earning 97 points on the day. Highlighting the meet were DC’s pole vaulters, who notched the two highest marks in the HCAC this season.
MARION, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s outdoor track team and field competed in the Indiana Wesleyan Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday, March 27, which did not record team results. The team looked strong in what was their second outdoor track meet of the season.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – Defiance College’s Austin Trivett was honored by the HCAC as the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for March 14-21. The Defiance, Ohio, native was outstanding on Saturday, leading the Yellow Jackets to a first-place team finish at the 15th annual Dick Small Invitational.
DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s track and field team won the 15th annual Dick Small Invitational on Saturday, March 20. The team registered 227 points on the day, edging out HCAC rival Manchester College for the top spot.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – In the HCAC’s 2010 Men’s Preseason Track and Field Poll, which was voted on by the conference’s nine head coaches and released on Tuesday, Defiance was picked third, receiving 61 total points. The Yellow Jackets also had five runners recognized as HCAC Athletes to Watch.
ANDERSON, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s indoor track and field team finished eighth out of 16 teams at the Fred Wilt Memorial Meet in Anderson, Ind., on Saturday. Hayden Krick led the way for the Jackets with a school record performance in the one mile run.
Terre Haute, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team competed in the Hoosier-Buckeye Meet on Saturday, February 20, which consisted of the nine schools from the HCAC. The team placed third in the meet with 86.50 points, trailing only Rose-Hulman and Franklin in the standings.
WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Defiance College men’s indoor track and field team competed in the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday, placing ninth out of 19 schools with 25.50 total points. The Jackets finished ahead of conference rivals Bluffton University (23 points) and Mount St. Joseph (five points).
UPLAND, Ind. – The Defiance College men’s track and field team competed in the Taylor Invitational on Saturday, February 6. The Jackets had several strong performances highlighted by Hayden Krick’s school record time in the 3,000 meter run.
MARION, Ind. – DC’s indoor track and field team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitation meet on Saturday, January 30. The team set four school records and had numerous athletes earn spots on DC’s all-time indoor track top-ten performances list.
